Carezza is looking forward to the World Cup opening

South Tyrol's snowboarders around Roland Fiwickeler and Aaron March are currently preparing for the first race of the season in Val Senales, while preparations around the World Cup-tested Pra di Tori piste on the Karerpass are in full swing. “At the moment there is still a clear lack of snow, but temperatures are expected to gradually drop in the coming days. Then the final precautions can be taken,” assured race director Georg Eisath at the event presentation.

Lack of snow is not a concern The director of the Carezza ski area is calm: “We don’t get excited. The World Cup races will also provide a spectacle this year.” OK boss Andreas Obkircher will also ensure this. Unlike in previous years, when a total of four World Cup competitions were held, this winter his plans are focused on two competitions on a single race day. “On the one hand, this is the best solution financially, and on the other hand, it relieves the burden on our countless volunteers. “We were also able to further professionalize our event, i.e. plan it even better and in more detail,” reveals Obkricher.

Full program on Saturday After the atmospheric opening ceremony and the starting number draw on Friday evening in the “Grand Hotel Carezza”, everything focuses on the following Saturday, when the snowboard elite will demonstrate all their skills. The qualifying races are scheduled for 8.45:12.30 a.m. and will last around two hours. The final runs in the single-run format begin at XNUMX p.m. Immediately after the race, the winners will be honored in the finish area, after which the World Cup event will come to an end in the specially erected marquee. “The entire program on this day is impressive,” enthused Nova Levante Mayor Markus Dejori on the sidelines of the press conference in Bolzano. “What the organizers do here every year to bring top international sport to our ski area is worthy of all honor. I can only recommend everyone to get an impression of this fascinating spectacle on site.” Last year, the Austrian Anton Unterkofler and the Swiss Patrizia Kummer won the parallel giant slalom, while the Frenchman Sylvain Dufour and the Canadian Caroline Calve were ahead in the parallel slalom. For the Italian national team, the World Cup in Carezza is one of the highlights of the season. Burgstaller Nadya Ochner, who surprisingly took fourth place in the parallel slalom, has the best memories of last year's race. Meanwhile, the men's hopes rest on Roland Fiwickeler, who beamed from the podium as winner of the parallel giant slalom at the World Cup premiere in 2011. But the other local snowboarders are always good for a surprise.

For the fourth time in a row, the world's best snowboarders will be stopping off at the Carezza ski area next week. The parallel giant slalom on Saturday, December 13th, which marks the start of the new World Cup season, was presented to the general public today at the Hotel Laurin in Bolzano.
