The Azzurri want to reach the podium in Carezza

The starting signal for the 9/2016 season will be given on Thursday at 17 a.m. with the qualifying competitions on the Pra di Tori piste. The finals will follow from 13 p.m. Then at the latest it will become clear who will be vying for the winner's trophy in Carezza. “Our goal is to get on the podium,” reveals Meinhard Erlacher, who is the head coach of the Italian alpine snowboarders. The Gadertaler has several hot irons in the fire. “Christoph Mick, Aaron March and also the recovered Roland Filehner can be right at the front. In the women's category, Nadya Ochner has already made it to the podium in Carezza. If everything goes smoothly for her, she can make it back into the medal ranks. Elisa Profanter is competing in her first full season in the World Cup, but she is also a candidate for the top ten,” says Erlacher.

Mick & Co. are well prepared

The Azzurri have already impressed several times in front of their home crowd. Roland Filehner, who reported fit just in time for the start of the season after a long-term flu, has two victories to his name in Carezza, while Ochner made it onto the podium in third place two years ago. “The successes of the past have shown that we have established ourselves among the world leaders. Now we have to pick up from there,” explains Cesare Pisoni, the person responsible for snowboarding in the Italian Ski Association. In the past few weeks of training, he and Erlacher have primarily focused on the parallel giant slalom. “That’s where we had our weak points last season. I think we are now well prepared for the competition in Carezza. “On race day it will become clear where we stand in international comparison,” concluded Pisoni.

The program opens this evening with a start number raffle in the marquee in the finish area. The first World Cup winners of the season will be determined on Thursday on the Pra di Tori slope in Carezza.

The new World Cup season for Alpine snowboarders opens in the Carezza ski area on Thursday. The day before the parallel giant slalom at the foot of the Latemar, the two coaches Cesare Pisoni and Meinhard Erlacher set out the goals of the Italian national team.
