A mistake costs Visintin dearly

Omar Visintin had to wait a long time before the new snowboard cross season finally started. The starting signal was given on Saturday in Valmalenco, a mountain village in Lombardy. However, the race didn't go as planned for the Algunder: he was eliminated early on, namely in the round of 16. Visintin showed in the qualification on Friday that he is in top form. Thanks to third place, he even slipped into the role of favorite, but he didn't live up to it. A momentous mistake meant that he did not qualify for the quarter-finals as he came last in his heat. At least Visintin can console himself with the fact that there is another race taking place in Valmalenco on Sunday. While the South Tyrolean struggled, Glenn De Bois from the Netherlands won his first World Cup race. Eliot Grondin from Canada came second, and the Italian Lorenzo Sommariva came third. Moioli strong Because the men on the home team – apart from Sommariva – didn't shine as usual that day, the women had to pull the chestnuts out of the fire. Above all, Michela Moioli, the 2018 Olympic champion and overall World Cup winner last season. The 25-year-old proved her superiority and won the 14th World Cup race of her career ahead of Faye Gulini from the United States and Eva Samkova from the Czech Republic.
