Swinging onto the podium: Filehner shines in Carezza

For the third time in Carezza and for the 45th time in his career, Roland Filehner climbed onto the World Cup podium this Thursday. The 42-year-old took third place. Only the Austrian day winner Andreas Prommegger and his final opponent Dario Caviezel from Switzerland were better.

Already at the start of his 234th World Cup race, Fiwickeler had a big exclamation mark with the best qualifying times. He confidently fought his way into the semi-finals with victories against his Val Gardena teammate Daniele Bagozza and Fabian Obmann (Austria), where he ended up against Prommegger. In the small final, the Villnösser finally clearly prevailed against the Lombard Maurizio Bormolini, who ultimately took fourth place.

Aaron March, another Azzurro, achieved a top placing. The Eisacktaler took sixth place after his quarter-final exit. However, the home race did not go as planned for the other South Tyroleans: Gabriel Messner, like Bagozza and the Fassaner Mirko Felicetti, had to give up in the round of 16. Edwin Coratti had already gotten stuck in qualifying. Marc Hofer did not start due to illness.

Dekker can celebrate for the first time There was an absolute premiere in the women's race: Michelle Dekker clinched her first World Cup victory with a fantastic comeback in the final against Poland's Aleksandra Krol. The 26-year-old Dutchwoman had previously been on the podium three times, but had never finished better than ninth in Carezza. Behind Krol, the Swiss Ladina Jenny climbed onto the podium, winning the race for third place against Gloria Kotnik by a razor-thin margin. Qualification winner Tsubaki Mik (Japan) took fifth place.

The best Italian was Elisa Caffont, who came in 15th, immediately ahead of Lucia Dalmasso. Both were eliminated in the round of XNUMX. South Tyrol's snowboarding figurehead was Nadya Ochner due to injury not at the start.
