Filehner's ball dream has shattered

The starting position before the parallel slalom in Winterberg was clear: Roland Filehner had to win the race, while the Russian Andrey Sobolev was not allowed to finish better than 13th - then “Fisch” would have won the big crystal ball. Sobolev “fulfilled” his part, i.e. finished the race in 14th place. But because Fischnelller was eliminated in the quarter-finals and ended up in 7th place, the Russian grabbed the overall World Cup.

In the final ranking, the 38-year-old South Tyrolean was overtaken by Tim Mastnak (he came fourth in the parallel slalom in Winterberg) and thus takes third place. The best South Tyrolean in the last individual race of the season was Aaron March in 4th place. The victory went to the Austrian Lukas Mathies, who prevailed in the big final against the German Stefan Baumeister.

In the women's race, the day's victory went to Patrizia Kummer (Switzerland). Nadya Ochner, however, got stuck in the qualification and is in 17th place in the final ranking. The Czech Ester Ledecka grabbed the big crystal ball for the overall World Cup.

The team parallel slalom is still on the program in Winterberg on Sunday, after which the World Cup season is over.
