Happy Birthday, Carezza!

At that time, very few people probably suspected that this would be the birth of a winter sports showcase event in South Tyrol. Nine years later, the renowned winter sports event in the Carezza Dolomite region has long since become a fixture and an integral part of the FIS international racing calendar. Since then, the Snowboard World Cup on the Karerpass has developed into a fixture that inspires top athletes, coaches and of course the representatives of the International Ski Federation FIS every year. The anniversary edition takes place in five days on Thursday, December 17th. The organizers around OK boss Andreas Obkircher have been working for months to ensure that the event can go off smoothly in this special year. “We would of course have liked to organize a big party this year, but unfortunately that is not possible under the current circumstances. That's why we put all our commitment into optimizing the TV broadcast. Hopefully spectacular pictures of our beautiful ski area and the great landscape will reach many households around the world. And there will be some surprises before, during and after the races that will further enhance the TV broadcast,” promises Obkircher, still keeping a low profile. Due to the current safety regulations, the races will take place behind closed doors. South Tyrol's snowboard fans can still be there up close and watch the thrilling finals live on Rai Sport or Eurosport 13 from 2 p.m. ORF Sport + and RTV Slovenia also broadcast in real time. Numerous other TV stations, however, will report on the races in Carezza in various news and magazine formats. With overall World Cup winner Roland Fiwickeler from Villnöß and Nadya Ochner from Burgstall, there are two local snowboarders at the start who have already won on the Pra-Di-Tori slope. Fischler won in 2011 and 2014, Ochner was successful in 2018.

Happy Birthday, Carezza!

It seems like December 21, 2011 was just yesterday when the Snowboard World Cup made its debut on the Pra Di Tori slope. At that time, the South Tyrolean local hero Roland Fiwickeler and the Canadian Caroline Calve won the very first parallel giant slalom at the foot of the Rosengarten.
