Hofer before Coratti! Passeirer celebrates his first World Cup victory

His best World Cup result to date was 17th place in the parallel slalom in Cortina in December 2017. Now Marc Hofer made it onto the podium for the first time - and immediately took victory. In the South Tyrolean dream final he prevailed against Edwin Coratti from Vinschger. But first things first: Hofer qualified for the round of 11 for the first time ever in 24th place at the World Cup in Piancavallo (Friuli-Venezia Giulia). There, the 0,07-year-old from Saltaus in Passeier narrowly beat the Villnöss veteran Roland Filehner (+0,46 seconds). Coratti, who achieved the best time in qualifying, made it to the next round against Canadian Arnaud Gaudet (+0,39). In the quarterfinals, Hofer was able to defeat the Austrian Benjamin Karl (+0,22), while Coratti had the upper hand against the Austrian Alexander Payer (+0,49). In the semi-finals, the man from Vinschger prevailed against the German Stefan Baumeister (+0,22), and the man from Passiria made it to the final against the South Korean Sangho Lee (+XNUMX). In the South Tyrolean dream final, Coratti and Hofer were neck and neck for a long time. In the middle section, Coratti was eliminated due to two goal errors, which meant that Hofer was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory. In the small final, Lee beat Baumeister. Gabriel Messner (St. Magdalena in Funes) lost to Stefan Baumeister in the quarterfinals. Schabser Aaron March, who lives in Völs, was also eliminated in the quarterfinals (against Sangho Lee).
