In Carezza everything is prepared for the World Cup - VIDEO

For the sixth time in a row, an Alpine snowboarding World Cup event will take place on the Pra di Tori slope in Carezza. There are still two weeks until the big event at the foot of the Latemar, but most of the preparations have already been made. “The slopes are suitable for racing, the lifts open on weekends. We could already organize the World Cup race,” revealed Georg Eisath, President of Carezza Ski, at the presentation in Bolzano. OK boss Andreas Obkircher agreed with him: “We have the world’s best snowboarders as guests. The races guarantee a spectacle and on top of that there is a rich supporting program from Wednesday to Friday.”

“WorldCup 4 Kids” celebrates its premiere

Obkircher and his team have come up with something special to attract even more spectators to the edge of the slopes. This year, the snowboard event is dedicated to the “WorldCup 4 Kids” project, which is being carried out in collaboration with several schools. The children will study the sport and the individual participating nations in detail beforehand and then follow the action live on site on race day.

Not only are the young winter sports fans and the hosts in Welschnofen looking forward to the snowboard races, but also Hermann Ambach, the president of the state winter sports association: “I will be keeping a close eye on the local snowboarders in particular and keeping my fingers crossed for them. With their successes, they inspire numerous young athletes to take up these sports.”

The athletes are “burning” for their commitment

The South Tyrolean “Brettlfahrer” themselves can hardly wait for the season to start in Carezza. “It’s finally starting – and with an absolute highlight. Starting at home in front of all your friends is something very special,” said Welschnofen local hero Christoph Mick on Thursday in Bolzano. He is aiming for an absolute top result, just like his teammate Aaron March. “I definitely want to be on the podium this season, ideally at the home race,” said the Wipptaler. In addition to them, the two-time Carezza winner Roland Fiwickeler, as well as Nadya Ochner and Elisa Profanter will also be at the start. “The goal has to be to be in the knockout phase. We simply owe it to the viewers,” revealed Profanter.

As in previous years, entry to the finish area is free. It starts on Thursday, December 15th from 9 a.m. when the first qualifying runs take place. The final decisions will finally be made at 13 p.m. On Wednesday evening (18 p.m.) the opening ceremony and the starting number draw will take place in the marquee in the finish area. The World Cup event, however, will conclude with the After World Cup Party on Friday.
