Junior World Championships: Gabriel Messner wins bronze in the parallel slalom

One day after Fourth place in the parallel giant slalom Messner “took revenge” for the metal medal in the parallel slalom and took third place in the last race of the title fights. In the knockout phase, the 19-year-old advanced to the semifinals after victories over Richard Riley Kilmer-Choi and Elias Huber, where he met his champion in the Russian Ilia Vitugov. In the small final, Messner met his South Tyrolean teammate Marc Hofer, who had previously eliminated the newly crowned parallel giant slalom world champion Dmitry Sarsembaev. In the South Tyrolean duel, Messner was ultimately ahead - at the finish the Villnößer was able to celebrate bronze and thus his second World Cup medal after the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom in 2016.

Meanwhile, Messner conqueror Ilia Vitugov was crowned the new junior world champion. The 18-year-old relegated his compatriot Dmitry Loginov to second place in the all-Russian final.

Yanik Wiedmer from Meran (37th place) and Marco Benetti from Schenna (disqualified), however, had nothing to do with the decision.

Women: Four “Azzurre” in the top twelve In the women's race there were no precious metals for the local snowboarders. Despite the lack of a medal, the Italian team was able to convince - with Elisa Profanter from Villnößer (6th), Alice Lombardi from South Tyrol (9th), Jasmin Coratti from Langtaufer (11th) and Elisa Caffont (12th) finishing four “Azzurre” finished the parallel slalom among the top twelve. The two Val Gardena women, Vivien Santifaller and Aline Moroder, in 30th and 31st place respectively, rounded off the Italian result.

Victory in the women's competition went to the Austrian Jemima Juritz, who left the Russian Maria Valova behind in the final. Daniela Ulbing (also Austria) completed the podium in third place.
