No podium for March & Co. at the start of the World Cup in Russia

The first surprise came in the qualification on Saturday morning local time. Both last season's overall winner, Aaron March, and all-time great Roland Filehner (ITA/Villnöß) missed the qualification for the parallel giant slalom. The Austrian stars Benjamin Karl and Andreas Prommegger also failed to qualify for the World Cup opener. With Edwin Coratti (Langtaufers), Gabriel Messner (Villnöß) and Daniele Bagozza (Gröden), three South Tyroleans made it to the round of 3, as did their teammates Maurizio Bormolini and Mirko Felicetti. Coratti, Bormolini and Messner had to give up in the first round, Bagozza and Felicetti met in the quarterfinals. The man from Val Gardena had to bow to his teammate by 1 seconds. Felicetti was eliminated in the semi-final against the Korean Sangho Lee, as well as in the small final against home team Andrei Sobolev. In the final, Lee beat Stefan Baumeister from Germany, who was in the lead and was eliminated shortly before the finish. In the women's category, Azzurre Nadya Ochner (Burgstall), Jasmin Coratti (Langtaufers), Lucia Dalmasso and Elisa Caffont were unable to qualify for the round of 16. Local hero Sofiya Nadyshina (RUS) won ahead of Ramona Hofmeister (GER) and Carolin Langenhorst (GER). The parallel slalom continues in Bannoye on Sunday, before the Snowboard World Cup takes place in Carezza and Cortina on December 16th and 18th. Result PGS Bannoye, men Pos Name Country 1. No podium for March & Co. at the start of the World Cup in Russia

The parallel snowboarders started the Olympic season on Saturday in Bannoye (RUS). At the start of the World Cup, defending champion Aaron March (ITA/Völs) and his teammates only caused limited celebration.
