Next top placement for Edwin Coratti

The snowboarder from Langtaufers is in great shape a month before the World Championships in Rogla. After his third place in the parallel slalom in Moscow a week ago, he now followed up in Bannoye: In the parallel giant slalom he narrowly missed the podium and came fourth. There was still a bit of sand in the Vinschger's gear during the qualification, as he was only able to set 13th time. In the knockout round, however, Coratti pulled out all the stops, eliminated competitor after competitor and fought his way to the semi-finals. There the three-time World Cup winner met Igor Sluev, but didn't make it to the finish and had to go to the small final. In the azure duel with Mirko Felicetti, Coratti was left behind and ended up in 4th place. For the Vinschger it was the third top 5 result this season. The victory went to Dmitry Loginov, who defeated Sluev in the grand final. Nothing to gain for the other South Tyroleans For the other South Tyroleans, the race didn't go as planned. Roland Filehner had done well in qualifying, but was narrowly defeated by the German Stefan Baumeister in the round of 16. Aaron March, however, got stuck in the qualification, as did Nadya Ochner in the women's category. There is another parallel slalom in Bannoye on Sunday.
