Olympic anticipation and Corona worries: That's what Visintin says

In November, Omar Visintin showed that his form was right with second place at the Boardercross World Cup in Secret Garden (China). But on December 10th he was presented with the other side of the coin. He suffered a serious elbow injury and concussion after a fall at the World Cup in Montafon. An operation followed, and the Algunder even had to worry about the Olympics. But the healing progressed well. Around the turn of the year, even light boardwalking stopped. Visintin's intensive physiotherapy and hard work bore fruit. The 32-year-old already tried out real training rides in Cervinia in mid-January: “It didn’t feel that bad. I'm not pushing hard at the start yet, but I can do the runs without painkillers and don't feel anything during the landings either." Visintin and the coaching team decided to compete at the World Cup in Cortina on January 29th. “I decide at the last moment whether I'm aiming for a top result or taking a more leisurely approach. I'm feeling better every day and I'm just trying to improve step by step," explained Omar, who is always in a good mood. Corona is causing concern Returning to the racetrack is no longer a concern for the experienced crosser. Corona, on the other hand, does. “So close to the Winter Games, everyone is a little afraid that it could get them. We are all very careful and try to avoid contact. But there is always a residual risk.” The Olympic course suits him. Visintin describes: “Yes, I did well there and that gives me confidence. I know that a lot of things are possible in China. The route is relatively long, so the start is not that important. I’m looking forward to the Winter Games.” The departure will take place on February 1st. The “Azzurri” fly to Beijing via Milan. What awaits the Algunder and all other Olympic participants when they arrive in China leaves the snowboarder cold. “The pandemic has been going on for almost two years now. We know that we have to shield ourselves and that we are tested frequently. I can live with that. I'm going to the Winter Games for a sporting competition and not to go hiking or to the opera.”
