PSL Bad Gastein: Aaron March in third place

Aaron March already showed his good form in qualifying on Friday morning and once again showed that the slopes in the state of Salzburg are tailored to his needs. He was the only “Azzurro” to make it to the round of 16 with the eleventh fastest time. For Edwin Coratti, Roland Fiwickeler, Christoph Mick and Meinhard Erlacher, the first qualifying race was the end of the line.

In the round of 0,75, Aaron March prevailed against Slovenian Izidor Susteric. He was ahead of sixth place in qualifying by 27 seconds. One lap later, the XNUMX-year-old from Vipiteno put the German Stefan Baumeister in his place. But March was eliminated in the semifinals - even though he was exactly the same speed as Andreas Promegger. However, due to the better qualifying time, the Austrian advanced to the final.

For Aaron March it was all about a peg result in the “small final”, which the South Tyrolean also achieved thanks to a win against the Austrian Sebastian Kislinger. Meanwhile, the German Alexander Bergmann surprisingly won the final.

For Aaron March it was the ninth World Cup podium of his career and, as already mentioned at the beginning, the fourth in a row in Bad Gastein. In no other World Cup location did the Vipiteno man achieve a top result so often.

Ochner in eleventh place

Nadya Ochner showed strong performance among the women. The Burgstaller was the only “Azzurra” to qualify for the final – with the sixth qualifying time. However, in the round of 16, eventual winner Patrizia Kummer (Switzerland) pulled her out, and Ochner finished eleventh in the final rankings. Kummer won the parallel giant slalom in Carezza in December. The podium in Bad Gastein was completed by Ester Ledecka (Czech Republic) and the Austrian Marion Kreiner.

For the other two snowboarders on the Italian national team, Andrea Tribus and Corinna Boccacini, the final stop was already in the qualification.

The World Cup in Bad Gastein continues on Sunday with another parallel slalom.
