And that's THE reason I'm still a professional snowboarder. I have sufficiently proven that I am one of the best in the world in this sport. I have also won the crystal ball in giant slalom in the last two seasons. I have an extremely fast swing, although the courses are now extremely easy and, above all, direct. As a result, technical skills take a back seat. But I have proven that I can win medals by winning 2 precious metals at world championships. And I’m still the only one on my team who has World Cup medals at home.” With this, Filehner also sent a challenge to his teammates, but also to the coaching team: Although he won silver in the parallel giant slalom at the 2021 World Championships in Rogla (0,01 seconds behind Dimitri Loginow), he was not allowed to compete in the parallel slalom the next day start for the Azzurri. Others were given preference who had previously achieved better results in the World Cup, but who could not cope with the pressure of the World Cup. Such a fatal bad coaching decision should not be repeated at the 2022 Olympics.
