Silver hero Visintin: “Would have signed immediately”

Together with Michela Moioli, Visintin won the silver medal in the snowboard crosser mixed team competition held for the first time on Saturday (click here for the detailed race report). He had already won bronze in the individual discipline on Thursday (SportNews reported) .

Visintin has undoubtedly achieved its goals. If someone had offered him bronze and silver in advance, “I would have signed immediately,” Visintin said after the race and generally with his Olympic Games in Beijing more than satisfied. “After the individual competition, I knew that the team competition would be a great chance for another medal, especially with Michela, who is in great shape,” said the Algund boardercrosser.

Visintin emphasized that he had worked hard “to be here after the injury.” As a reminder, he fell during the World Cup on December 10th and suffered a serious elbow injury and concussion. The 32-year-old even had to worry about the Olympics. He made his comeback at the end of January.

The forecasts were never bad. “The doctors told me I would make it,” Visintin said. However, the loss of a whole month of training affected the strength in the arm and upper body. He used the month without training “to rest, relax and enjoy life at home,” said Visintin.

I just tried to have a good race. I gave it my all in the final, but unfortunately Jacobellis was faster. That's fine. “It’s still silver,” Moioli said with satisfaction.

After the disappointing individual competition, the last few days have been difficult for her. Due to the fall, she slightly injured her ankle and required 2 days of physical therapy. “I'm really happy, a big thank you to Omar, to the whole team for the work they did and to our teammates who were here to support us,” she said after winning the medal.
