Snowboard World Cup in Landgraaf: 2nd Roland Fiwickeler and 3rd Aaron March

The two “Azzurri” already showed a strong performance in the morning: March set the fastest time in the qualification, Firiegeler the second best time. Christoph Mick from Welschnofen was also able to qualify for the round of 36, while Meinhard Erlacher from Val Badia was eliminated with the XNUMXth time.

In the round of 30, March and Filehner eliminated the two Austrians Manuel Veith and Ingemar Walzer. Mick, on the other hand, had to admit defeat to the Slovenian Zan Kosir by just a hundredth of a second. In the quarter-finals, March beat the Swiss Roland Haldi, Fischnelller against the Slovenian Roc Marguc. In the semi-finals, the XNUMX-year-old from Villnöss eliminated Roc Flander, another Slovenian, while March was defeated by Andreas Prommegger. The Austrian then also won the final against Fiwickeler. March won the race for third place against Flanders.

This is the ninth podium finish in Roland Filehner's career, but it has never been enough to win. March, on the other hand, is climbing the podium for the second time, after his success in Moscow last year. He seems to feel particularly comfortable in Landgraaf, as he also came fourth here last year.

Fischlerga celebrates his first World Cup victory "I already noticed in training that things were going well - said Fiwickeler after the race - in the second runs I was actually always ahead of the Austrians and the Slovenians. Unfortunately, I made a mistake at the fifth gate in the second round. But I'm convinced that the first World Cup victory will come soon." Aaron March is also satisfied: "In the qualification I got stuck at the start because the gate didn't open. I thought that was it, but the judges let me start again - said the 24-year-old from Natz - Then I set the best time. It's a shame because of the mistake in the semi-finals. Now we hope that the parallel slalom will become an Olympic discipline."

In the women's race, the Russian Ekaterina Tudegesheva was able to hold her own in front of the Austrian Heidi Neururer and her teammate Alena Zavarzina. Corinna Boccacini took 13th place, Vanessa Cusini was 24th and Natalie Egger from Naturno was 28th.
