South Tyrolean double victory in Cortina

In the end, the veteran prevailed. After his strong second place in the parallel giant slalom on Friday , the Villnößer went one better today. After the Slovenian Jure Hafner had to believe in it in the round of 16 and the American Aaron Muss in the quarter-finals, the Russian Vic Wild was caught in the semi-finals. Fischler was in the final – and a South Tyrolean was waiting there: Edwin Coratti.

Coratti, who had to tremble against the Austrian Andreas Prommegger in the round of 16, also had to deal with a Russian in the semi-finals. Dimitry Loginov (he won the small final and came third) was fast, but six hundredths slower than the Langtauferer. This meant that the South Tyrolean dream final was certain.

Fischler beats Coratti in the final

Fischnler was ahead there. In a thrilling duel, the 37-year-old was a bit more hardened. Coratti kept up well until shortly before the finish line, then he made a small mistake and Fischnelller pulled away. “I really wanted to win the race,” said Fiwickeler shortly after his success. Understandable, after all he had already come second three times in Cortina. Coratti was also happy with second place. It was the second podium finish of his career.

Mick also in the top 6

The other South Tyroleans also performed well. Christoph Mick only had to admit defeat against Wild in the quarter-finals. In the end, Mick took fifth place. Aaron March came twelfth, 19-year-old Marc Hofer from Passiria ended up in 17th place. Daniele Bagozza from St. Ulrich finished in 25th place, Gabriel Messner was 46th.

Schöffmann wins among women, Ochner comes eighth

In the women's category, Austrian Sabine Schöffmann clinched victory. She prevailed in the final against the Swiss Julie Zogg. Natalia Soboleva from Russia came third. Nadya Ochner from Burgstall came eighth.
