World Cup in Carezza: start numbers have been assigned

The Snowboard World Cup in parallel giant slalom in Carezza was ceremoniously opened on Wednesday, December 14th with the gondola handover of the Hubertus cable car to last year's winners and the starting number draw. The winners of the last edition of the Snowboard World Cup in Carezza, Daniela Ulbing and Stefan Baumeister, inaugurated the gondola of the Hubertus cable car dedicated to them on Wednesday afternoon.

The Austrian snowboarder, reigning Olympic runner-up in the parallel giant slalom and third at the World Cup opener in Winterberg (Germany) last Sunday, was happy about the honor: “I am very happy. It is a great honor when a gondola bears your own name. It reminds me of the beautiful moments of last season, that's very special." The German snowboarder Baumeister, who also finished third last Sunday, was also happy about the gondola: "It's really fantastic. Seeing your name on a gondola that you have ridden up and down so many times is truly remarkable,” he commented.

After the ceremony, the two elite snowboarders joined the other athletes on the Pra di Tori slope. The Public Bib Draw of the 18th Snowboard World Cup in Carezza took place there at 12 p.m. At the public event, the starting numbers for the qualification for the parallel giant slalom, which starts on Thursday from 9 a.m., were drawn and handed over. The competitions will be opened by Zan Kosir (blue course) and the South Tyrolean Edwin Coratti (Langtaufers, red course) for the men, the German Theresia Hofmeister (blue) and Carolin Langenhorst (red) for the women.

After qualifying, the 16 fastest athletes make it to the finals, which are held in a knockout system and start with the round of 13.15 at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. The winner of the Snowboard World Cup stage in Carezza will be announced immediately after the race and celebrated with a flower ceremony and the official award ceremony in the finish area. The finals will also be broadcast on television by Rai Sport+ HD, ORF Sport+ and numerous other channels worldwide, and the decision can also be streamed live on the Internet on the Eurosport Player.

The “Azzurri” in Carezza As already mentioned, the first “Azzurro” to compete in qualifying will be Edwin Coratti with starting number 17 on the red track. Immediately afterwards, two more Italians follow: Daniele Bagozza (Gröden, start number 20) on the blue route and Roland Fiwickeler (Villnöß, start number 19) on the red route. In the following minutes it was Mirko Felicetti (Moena, start number 25) and Aaron March (Schabs, start number 29), both on the red track. On the blue, however, Maurizio Bormolini (Livigno, start number 34) and Gabriel Messner (St. Peter in Villnöß, start number 36) will compete in the qualification.

For the women, Lucia Dalmasso (Falcade, start number 26) will be the first “Azzurra” on the blue route, followed by Elisa Caffont (Belluno, start number 39) on the red one.
