World Cup opening in Carezza: The countdown is on!

It has been customary for years that the FIS Snowboard World Cup starts the new season in South Tyrol. This tradition will be continued this year when winter sports enthusiasts stop at the foot of the Latemar for the eighth time on December 13th. Already now, around a month and a half before the parallel giant slalom takes place, hard work is being done in the race office, and the first preparatory measures are also being taken along the Pra di Tori piste so that the World Cup starters can be offered perfect conditions.

The co-favorites again include numerous athletes from the host nation - including the South Tyrolean local heroes Roland Fiwickeler, Aaron March, Edwin Coratti, Daniele Bagozza, Gabriel Messner and Nadya Ochner. The majority of them have been preparing for the first highlight of the season on the Stelvio Pass since the beginning of the week.

Ester Ledecka is the big star In Carezza, however, it will not only be the “Azzurri” who will be in the spotlight, but also Ester Ledecka, who made history as the first double gold medalist in alpine skiing and snowboarding at the Olympic Games in South Korea. She will compete in her first race of the season on the “Brettl” in South Tyrol. The day before, on December 12th, the focus will be on the exceptional Czech talent for the first time, when a personalized gondola on the Hubertus lift will be dedicated to her - just like the Russian Andrey Sobolev - for her victory last year in Carezza.

The OK team in Carezza is not only fine-tuning the racing and supporting program these days, but is also working on many other small construction sites in order to be well prepared for December 13th. The latest innovation concerns the online presence of the World Cup organizers, which has been revised in recent months and is now located at https://carezza.it/ presented in a completely new dress.

The organizers are also paying particular attention to organizing the World Cup as a “green event”. After the smooth process last year, the commitment to energy efficiency, waste management and regional value creation is being strengthened again. In these weeks, the organizers are also trying to expand cooperation with various schools in South Tyrol and promote their projects with a view to the World Cup event.
