Visintin's big moment: That was Olympic Thursday

In an extremely spectacular race and with a magnificent performance, Omar Visintin fulfilled his dream of winning a medal. The Algunder won bronze in boardercross on Thursday. Only the Austrian Alessandro Hämmerle and the Canadian Eliot Grondin finished ahead of him.

“I’ve been waiting for this day for eight years,” said the Burggräfler after the race. This is Visintin's first Olympic medal, South Tyrol's second at these Winter Games. Italy now has a total of eight medals in Beijing, and apart from Visintin, no other Azzurri landed on the podium on Thursday.
