2 bronze medals in the team target competition

The long day began with the team ranking in the women's target competition. Here the local quartet had to tremble for a long time before the bronze medal was secured. Final player Waltraud Ebnicher Mulser (EV Moritzing) fought to catch up and ensured that the Azzurre overtook Slovenia. The successful team also included Sophia Enderle (SV Lana), Marion Huber (AEV Stegen) and Melanie Eder (EV Moritzing/SV Mölten). Germany won gold with 335 points, ahead of Austria 295.

Two hours later, the men also won the bronze medal. Hubert Lang (ASV Teis), Matthias Morandell (SV Kaltern), Josef Aichner (ASV Teis) and Roman Zublasing (SV Kaltern) with 318 points kept the strong Swiss (293) in check, who were on course for third place until the last round had taken.

The World Cup crown went to the German stock athletes, who scored 373 points and clearly relegated Austria (331) to silver. A total of 18 nations took part. After qualifying second, she slipped back to fourth place on Saturday and ended up right in front of her teammate Marion Huber, who had 616 points. Defending champion Verena Gotzler from Germany took the gold medal, beating Austria's Simone Steiner (695) with 692 points, just like she did two years ago at the World Championships in Regen. Incidentally, Gotzler also won the title at the last World Curling Championships in Ritten in 2016. Alina Mayer from Germany (662) completed the podium on Saturday.

Stefan Thurner won the gold medal for the men. With 717:715 points, the stick athlete from Germany was two points ahead of the Austrian Mario Weingartmann. The bronze medal went to Kevin Kronewetter, also from Austria (705). Compatriot Thomas Fuchs, 2018 world champion, had to be content with fourth place this time, while defending champion Stefan Zellermayer finished the final in fifth place. This was followed in the rankings by Hubert Lang, the best South Tyrolean stock athlete, who finished the competition in sixth place with 630 points. 2 bronze medals in the team target competition

On Saturday the penultimate day of competition at the 14th World Curling Championships took place in the Ritten Arena in Klobenstein. A successful day for South Tyrol's stock athletes, who took third place twice in the team rankings.
