Everything at a glance: The new winter sports season begins now

In addition to the alpine skiing, freestylers have also already started. At the end of October, Silvia Bertagna and Ralph Welponer were already in action at the Big Air event in Chur (Switzerland). This weekend, the second stage of the season is on the program for the two South Tyroleans - namely the Slopestyle World Cup on the Stubai Glacier. The qualification starts on Friday. One day later there will be the final.

Four races have already been held in the Ski World Cup. This weekend we continue with two women's slaloms in Levi. There are no South Tyroleans in Finland, but 8 Azzurre . However, other athletes such as Katharina Liensberger and Petra Vlhova are among the favorites. Off to the ice channel For the first time this weekend we will be looking at the ice channel. The luge athletes will have their World Cup opener in Yanqing, China (district of Beijing). The Italian winter sports association will only announce later this week which South Tyrolean athletes will be taking part. The fact is: On Saturday it's the doubles and men's singles, while on Sunday it's the women's turn. The finale is a team relay on Sunday evening (CET).

The bobsleigh riders are starting their World Cup in Igls. From a South Tyrolean perspective, the Palatinate pilot Patrick Baumgartner and the pusher Alex Verginer (Gadertal) are there. While the two-man bobsleigh race is on the program on Saturday, the decision in the four-man bobsleigh will be made on Sunday. The Skeleton World Cup also begins in Igls at the weekend, although no South Tyrolean was nominated. The ski jumpers are also getting started On Friday the ski jumpers will also start qualifying for the World Cup opener in Nizhny Tagil, Russia. The two Val Gardena residents Daniel Moroder and Alex Insam are in the starting blocks, although FISI will only announce the list of nominees.
