The women are guaranteed a medal

The South Tyrolean women's team with Marion Huber (Stegen), Franziska Knoll (Lana), Karin Prast (Ritten), Sophia Enderle (Eppan) and Annelies Huber (Stegen) was able to improve in the second half of the season. They only lost the opening game against Germany (3:19). Then 6 victories followed: Austria (16:12), Belarus (17:11), Slovenia (18:10), Czech Republic (21:8), Finland (35:5) and Switzerland (20:10). Italy came in second place with 12 points. Germany was the superior preliminary round winner with 2 points. Austria took third place with 17 points, ahead of Slovenia (3). “We are overjoyed. By safely winning a medal, we have achieved our first goal,” says Waltraud Mulser, who looks after the women. Her daughter Sonja Mulser, who unfortunately had to stay at home as a women's specialist, is also happy about her players' great performance and hopes that they will win World Cup gold tomorrow. On Saturday the women's team has to compete against Germany in Qualifier 11. The South Tyrolean men's team with Karl Abfalterer (Luttach), Armin Karadar (Girlan), Martin Kerschbaumer (Völs), Stefan Roalter (Eppan) and Robert Sinner also made it into the top 9 tomorrow with 2 wins and 4 defeats the medals will be fought out among themselves. The last game against Slovenia was a must-win. The men's team achieved this quite confidently with a 23:3 victory. They won against Brazil (22:6), Germany (11:8), Czech Republic (20:8), Australia (24:6), Finland (22:8), France (35:3), Switzerland (18: 10), Belarus (33:5) and Slovenia (23:3). The only two defeats in the first three games were against Austria (2:3) and then in the 8th game against Russia (11:9). Medal decisions On Friday there will be 6 medal decisions at the World Curling Championships in Regen, the first in the team rankings of the target competition. Walter Hanni (Eppan Berg), Jens Seebacher (Castelrotto), Josef Aichner (Teis) and Karl Abfalterer (Luttach), represent Italy in the men's race on lanes 1 to 4. Karin Prast, Melanie Eder (Mölten), Sophia Enderle and Nadya Dezini (Lana) are in action on lanes 1 to 4 for the women. The South Tyroleans are expected to win medals in both disciplines. In the afternoon there will be the individual final in the target competition, with Josef Aichner (Teis) in 3rd place after the preliminary round and Karin Prast (Ritten) in 4th place after the preliminary round aiming for a medal. Also in the final are Walter Hanni in 11th and Jens Seebacher in 12th for the men and Melanie Eder in 7th for the women. In the evening there will be the individual final in long-distance shooting with Karl Abfalterer. Franziska Knoll decided not to take part in the final in order to spare herself for the team game. With a strong performance in the preliminary round, the South Tyrolean women's team reached second place behind Germany in the team game. This means that the ladies are already assured of precious metal. The men finished the preliminary round in third place and can then win a medal on Saturday.
