A couple's victory at the Ratschings Winter Trail

On the steep route - there is already plenty of fresh snow in the Ratschings/Jaufen ski and hiking area - the majority of the participants were on touring skis. Some passionate amateur athletes were able to compete with top athletes from the scene. Winner Martina Cumerlato, who comes from Torrebelvicino in the province of Vicenza but now lives in Val Gardena, is a successful mountain runner who took bronze at this summer's Skyrunning World Championships in Piedmont. Second-placed Tanja Plaikner (Team Alpin Speed) and third-placed Viktoria Mair (RT Gitschberg Jochtal) are anything but unknown in the local mountain running scene.

Big names can also be found on the men's podium. Alex Oberbacher from Val Gardena is one of the top stars on the international ski touring scene. He is part of the Italian Association's ski mountaineering team and won silver at the European Ski Mountaineering Championships in Boí Taüll, Spain, in March this year. One of the best mountain runners in South Tyrol, Armin Larch from Mareit, came in second, just 4.30 seconds behind. Martin Stofner, a well-known extreme athlete from the Sarntal, came third.

Martina Cumeralto won the women's event.

After the race, the winners were celebrated at the Wasserfalleralm. Both the participants and the organizers were pleased with a successful start to the winter season. The OK team is now continuing with the planning for the Ratschings Mountain Trails, which will take place on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Ratschings Winter Trail, results Top 5, women: 1.
