FISI boss Roda criticizes: “We expect more from biathletes and skiers”

Shortly before the end of the Olympic Games in Beijing, Flavio Roda, the head of the Italian winter sports association FISI, drew a not too positive interim conclusion. The tenor was that more would have been expected from skiers and biathletes in particular.

Mr President Roda is partly right, but some judgments are wrong. Only he can say what good approaches he sees in bobsleigh. In Bob from Italy is currently fighting for the last place with the one from Jamaica. The days of Eugenio Monti are over, mainly because they are unable to provide a suitable railway. The same misery applies to the tobogganers. When it comes to jumpers and combined athletes (women and men), there seems to be a huge problem with the trainers. They were all decent to excellent athletes, the longer they are looked after by the last trainers, the worse they become. When it comes to cross-country skiers, it is not enough to send two top athletes to the Russians to build a whole team. Alpine and biathletes have actually done what they can. Chance also plays a big role here. You can also make a mistake while skiing.
