FISI South Tyrol: Board election counted

Markus Ortler, Giorgio Giovanelli, Christian Polig, Leander Moroder, Walter Eberhöfer, Lidia Bernardi and Hannes Trenker, as well as the athlete representatives Isabella Filippi Braunhofer and Christian Tröbinger and the trainer representative Thomas Major made it to the committee.

The elections for the state winter sports association actually took place over a month ago, on June 10th, in the Kolpinghaus in Bolzano. Two candidates stood for president. Hermann Ambach received 7.093 votes, or 53% of the vote, while his challenger, Puster entrepreneur Helmuth Senfter, received 6.312 votes, or 47%. However, this election was declared void because it was assumed that neither candidate had reached the necessary quorum. As stipulated by the regulations for the elections of the national president, Ambach would have needed 55% of the votes since he had already served several terms in office, Senfter, as a newcomer, would have needed 50% + 1 vote.

However, after asking the National Olympic Committee CONI, it turned out that these regulations only apply to national elections and not to regional elections. In regional elections, the candidate who receives the majority of votes is elected and, in the case of the South Tyrolean regional association, that is Hermann Ambach, who was therefore elected president.

On June 10th, the ten new committee members of the regional association and the auditors were elected in the Kolping House. At that time, however, the votes were not counted. This could now be made up for today, Thursday, July 12th. There were no surprises, Markus Ortler and Giorgio Giovanelli received the most votes, only Isabella Filippi Braunhofer and Hannes Trenker are new to the committee. The auditors Stefan Schweigl and Walther Aberham were also confirmed today.
