Josef Aichner and Karin Prast can win precious metal in the individual competition

At the World Curling Championships in Regen (Bavaria), 5 out of 6 South Tyrolean target and stick shooters were able to qualify for the final in the target competition today. In the men's race, Josef Aichner (Teis) came in 3rd, Walter Hanni (Eppan) in 11th and Jens Seebacher (Seis) in 12th. Karin Prast (Ritten) and Melanie Eder (Mölten) made it to the final as 4th and 7th among the women. However, Nadya Dezini from Lana narrowly missed the final in 13th place. Josef Aichner and Karin Prast delivered a top performance today in the preliminary round of the target competition. Both can win a medal tomorrow. Josef Aichner is 3rd after the preliminary round and with an excellent 351 points is only 18 points behind the leader Stefan Zellermayer. For the second time since 2 in Graz, the South Tyrolean distance athletes did not win the bronze medal in the team competition at the World Curling Championships in Regen last night. Like the women, they had to settle for 1998th place. This time, the best distance athletes in South Tyrol had to stay at home because of the coronavirus. First the ladies were in action this afternoon on the Weienbahn in the marquee above the ice rink. For the first time, the World Championship titles in the women's individual and team distance competition will be awarded in Regen. Germany became the team world champion ahead of Austria and Switzerland. The South Tyroleans, who had to do without Sonja Mulser, took fifth place in the team rankings. Franziska Knoll (Lana) qualified for the final in twelfth place. Marion Huber, Annelies Huber (both Stegen) and Karin Prast took places 5, 18,19 and 21. In the men's category, as well as the women's, the Germans won the world championship title in the team ranking ahead of Austria and Slovenia. Karl Abfalterer (Luttach) came into the final in eleventh place. Adolf Bertolini (Terlan), Martin Kerschbaumer (Völs) and Armin Karadar (Girlan) came in 19th, 20th and 21st.
