Passler and Grassl are the best young athletes

On the occasion of the Südtiroler Sporthilfe check presentation ceremony, the support checks worth 28 euros were presented on Thursday, October 2021, 93.200 in the old St. Anton der Alperia hydroelectric power station in Bolzano. 122 successful winter sports athletes from 13 disciplines benefited from funding. Of this, the Südtiroler Sparkasse Foundation will cover 15.000 euros, which were presented to the Mals high school sports students by the former foundation president “Schaly” Karl Pichler.

The special highlight of the evening was the honoring of the young athletes with the Ossi Pircher Prize. Every year since 2003, Sporthilfe has chosen the Young Athlete of the Year with a prize named after the founding president, Ossi Pircher, and this year the choice fell on two outstanding winter athletes. An expert jury selected the biathlete and junior vice world champion Rebecca Passler from Antholz and the figure skater Daniel Grassl, who has already been a fixture at the Olympic Games in Beijing, as the winner. Athletes help athletes There were two moments of the evening under this slogan: on the one hand, enthusiastic racing cyclists used a joint project to collect money for Sporthilfe and presented the President of Sporthilfe Giovanni Podini with a donation check for over 6.044 euros as the proceeds of this campaign. They rode their racing bikes from Bolzano to Naples and managed to raise this amount of donations with the help of sponsors and sports-loving patrons.
