ITALY: “Gazzetta dello Sport”: “The Italian Miracle: Incredible, brothers and sisters: Italy has awakened again. (...) The result is truly remarkable. A battered and terribly contentious country will now organize an event of great sporting and, above all, political importance. (...) It is obvious that without the guarantee of the international metropolis of Milan, which runs like a turbo in contrast to the suffering of the rest of the country, the Winter Games would have ended between ice and reindeer high in the Swedish north.

“La Republic”: “There is no doubt that Milan, together with Cortina, would have the upper hand even without hosting the Winter Games (...). But we are not wrong in thinking that it is an opportunity for this city to take another step up the ladder of European metropolises. This will deepen the gap that separates Milan from the capital Rome.”
