Great honor for Wierer, Visintin and Co.

The ceremony was attended by the medalists of the Beijing Winter Games, as well as their technicians and managers. The delegation was led by the President of the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee), Giovanni Malagò, and the President of the Italian Paralympic Committee, Luca Pancalli. In his speech, Mattarella congratulated the athletes present. The President emphasized that seventeen Olympic and seven Paralympic medals are a great result.

Some South Tyroleans were also given this honor. Dorothea Wierer was finally able to fulfill her dream of an Olympic individual medal this year when she won the bronze medal in the sprint. Also present at the celebration was the surprise of the games, Nadia Delago, who was able to at least somewhat defend the honor of the local Alpine skiing athletes with her bronze medal. After winning two medals, bronze in the individual and silver in the mixed competition, Omar Visintin didn't miss this trip to Rome, and the bronze winner in luge, Dominik Filehner, also showed up in the capital.

The President also invited Dominik Windisch, who had decided to end his career a few weeks ago. The speedster was duly dismissed at the end of his career, in which he won 3 Olympic bronze medals (two in the mixed relay, in Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018, one in the sprint in Pyeongchang) as well as the world championship title in the mass start in Östersund 2019.

Also present were Federico Pellegrino, as well as Arianna Fontana, Martina Valcepina, Tommaso Dotti, Davide Ghiotto, Francesca Lollobrigida, Stefania Constantini, Sofia Goggia, Federica Brignone, Michela Moioli and the Paralympic athletes Giuseppe Romele, Giacomo Bertagnolli, Andrea Ravelli and Renè De Sylvestro.

Great honor for Wierer, Visintin and Co.

The ceremony to celebrate the athletes of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing took place on Tuesday at the Quirinale Palace, official residence of President Sergio Mattarella. The South Tyrolean medal winners were also there.
