A few days ago, a 15-year-old freerider died in an avalanche in the Zillertal. Arianna Tricomi, three-time freeride world champion from Val Badia, happened to be one of the first people at the scene of the accident. The South Tyrolean describes the dramatic moments and explains how this event triggered a rethink.

There is only one proven and infallible remedy against such accidents: stay at home if it is dangerous. Danger can arise from a wide variety of circumstances and these must be weighed up (snowfall, wind transport, slope, surface...). If in doubt, stay at home and, above all, don't want to set a world record. World records have no meaning on the mountain because the circumstances are always different.
