South Tyrol's long-distance shooters are crowned B world champions

Thomas Pichler (ASV Schenna) achieved a distance of 120,72 meters in his second attempt and was thus crowned B world champion of distance athletes. Together with Damian Denicolò (ASV St. Lorenzen/113,48) and Hannes Unterberger (AEV Stegen/112,70), the “Azzurri” also won the team championship with 346,90 meters. All three local stock athletes also made it into the final round for women. Sophia Enderle (SV Lana) took second place with 326 points behind the day's best Verena Gotzler from Germany (339). Marion Huber (AEV Stegen) took eighth place in the qualification (297), two positions ahead of Melanie Eder (EV Moritzing/SV Mölten), who had 280 points. The 14th Curling World Championships in Ritten continued on Thursday with qualification in the target competition. The South Tyrolean stock athletes had two gold medals to celebrate, which they won in the distance competition late on Wednesday evening.
