Curtain up for the South Tyrolean World Cup week

The world's best parallel snowboarders will be in action in Carezza on Thursday. Everything is prepared there for the second World Cup stage this winter. This is the 2th time that the snowboard elite have been guests at the Karerpass.

The finals of the parallel giant slalom on the challenging Pra Di Tori slope will take place from 13 p.m. Before that, the qualification is on the program from 9 a.m. The two official training sessions are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, while the slope can be freely skied on Wednesday.

After the South Tyroleans' outstanding performances at the World Cup opener in Cortina, expectations are even greater before the home race in Carezza. Roland Filehner and Aaron March secured a one-two victory on Saturday. Mirko Felicetti (4th), Edwin Coratti (5th) and Daniele Bagozza (6th) rounded off the Azzurri's phenomenal performance in the first race of the 2020/21 winter. Long ski weekend in Val Gardena and Alta Badia On Friday and Saturday, the Alpine speed classics in Val Gardena will be the focus of the interest of many winter sports fans. The first downhill training session on Wednesday marks the start of a week full of skiing. Thursday offers Dominik Paris & Co. another opportunity to study the Saslong in more detail before the Super-G on Friday and the downhill on Saturday.

The big question here is who will handle camel humping, ciaslat, etc. best this year? From a South Tyrolean perspective, Christof Innerhofer and Dominik Paris want to take another step forward on the Saslong after their comeback weekend in Val d'Isère. Paris has been on the podium twice in Val Gardena, Innerhofer once.

On Sunday, what is probably the most difficult giant slalom in the World Cup - next to Adelboden - is on the program in Alta Badia. The steep slope on the Gran Risa demands the athletes' full attention every year. This year there will be no parallel competition on Monday, but rather a slalom. The last time a World Cup slalom was held in Alta Badia was in December 2011.

A truly classic weekend awaits ski fans in Val Gardena and Alta Badia with Super-G, downhill, giant slalom and slalom. By the way, this is the first men's slalom of the World Cup winter. With Simon Maurberger, Manfred Mölgg and Alex Vinatzer, three South Tyroleans are about to make their comeback in Alta Badia. Most winter sports enthusiasts have been back in action for a few weeks now. Now the World Cup entourage is coming to South Tyrol for the first time this season.
