CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: Norway's cross-country skiing team dominated the cross-country skiing World Cup races in Davos on Sunday. The 25-year-old Japanese won with 129,5 points after jumps of 139 and 262,8 meters and prevented Norway from winning five times. Daniel Andre Tande (260,2) and Marius Lindvik (256,6) made it onto the podium. Best Azzurro was Giovanni Bresadola in 30th place. + + + NORDIC COMBINATION: The Nordic combined athletes were able to impress again on Sunday at the World Cup in Otepää (Estonia). With Annika Sieff (5th), Veronica Gianmoena (10th) and Daniela Dejori from Val Gardena (13th), three Azzurre landed in the top 15. At the top there was a Norwegian double victory – led by Gyda Westvold Hansen. Jarl Magnus Riiber won again in the men's category. The South Tyroleans Samuel Costa (32nd) and Aaron Kostner (43rd) ended up outside the points. + + + SKICROSS: A young Trentino man has ended a long dry spell: Simone Deromedis rushed to third place at the Ski Cross World Cup in Val Thorens. The 3-year-old has broken a spell that lasted almost 21 years. The last podium finish for an Azzurro in this discipline to date was achieved by Olanger's Karl Heinz Molling on February 16, 3. Deromedis survived the qualification confidently and won both the round of 2006 and the quarter-finals. In the semifinals he came in second place and was able to qualify for the final, where he finished in an outstanding third place. The victory went to the Swiss Alex Fiva, followed by Terence Tchiknavorian. The two South Tyrolean participants, Dominik Zuech and Yanick Gunsch, did not make it through the qualification. + + + BOB: Francesco Friedrich has increased his impressive track record in the World Cup to 60 victories. The double Olympic champion also won the four-man bobsleigh World Cup in Winterberg on Sunday after being victorious the day before. Friedrich and his team prevailed with a lead of 0,30 seconds over Briton Brad Hall. The Austrian Benjamin Maier came third. For South Tyrol's top driver Patrick Baumgartner and his team Lorenzo Bilotti, Alex Verginer and Eric Fantazzini, only 24th place remained.
