SKI JUMPING: Karl Geiger once again became a hero at the home World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt and repeated his success from the previous day. He distanced himself from the Slovenian Anze Lanisek in second place. Markus Eisenbichler completed the podium. Giovanni Bresadola was the only Italian in the final round. The Azzurro finished 2th. With his success, Geiger expanded his lead in the overall World Cup and made legitimate claims to Olympic gold in Beijing. + + + NATURAL TRACK TOBOGGANING: Daniel Gruber's overall victory in the Junior World Cup can no longer be taken away. The 19-year-old celebrated at the FIL Junior World Cup in luge on the natural track in Navis his third win of the season in the third race. The South Tyrolean achieved the best time in both runs. Sebastian Feldhammer followed in second place, 0,71 seconds behind, and Fabian Brunner came third (+0,76). In the overall ranking, Gruber leads the final in Umhausen on the last weekend in January with 300 points, followed by Brunner (210) and Feldhammer (201). Riccarda Reutz outclassed her competition in the women's category. In the second round, the Tyrolean's second-best time was enough for her second win of the season in the third race. Second place went to opening winner Sarah Schiller, with South Tyrolean Ivonne Müller following closely behind. In doubles, however, Anton Gruber/Hannes Unterholzner were in a class of their own. + + + BIATHLON: The Junior European Championships in Pokljuka ended on Sunday afternoon. Athletes plunged onto the trail one last time in pursuit. In the men's category, Paul Fontaine was crowned European champion after a flawless performance on the shooting range, beating Otto Invenius (+36,2) and Jan Gunka (+48,7). Leonesio Iacopo (12th) and Nicolo Betemps (14th) were the best Azzurri in the field. South Tyrolean Christoph Pircher made a total of five errors and fell back to 31st place. In the women's race, the German Selina Grotian came out on top despite two mistakes. Jeanne Richard (+25,5) and Lisa Maria Spark (+34,5) each followed behind. Sara Scattolo was the best Italian with four penalties at the shooting range and ninth final place. + + + SKICROSS: Ryan Regez packs a brace in Idre Fjäll! The Swiss had already won the race on Saturday and was at the top again a day later. David Mobärg (2nd/SWE) and Fancois Place (3rd/FRA) placed behind Regez. Dominik Zuech finished 35th, while Yanick Gunsch from Vinschger finished the competition in 39th place. In the women's category, local hero Sandra Näslund (SWE) won, ahead of Aubert Grillet (2nd/FRA) and Katrin Ofner (3rd/AUT). + + + ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING: The team relay also missed out on a medal in St. Moritz. Italy (Andrea Vötter, Dominik Fiwickeler, Emanuel Rieder/Simon Kainzwaldner) took 1,125th place, 4 seconds behind, and thus only sheet metal. Gold went to Latvia, which came out ahead of Germany (+0,127) and Russia (+0,675). + + + NATURAL TRACK TOBOGGANING: At the World Cup in Vatra Dornei (Romania), Evelin Lanthaler and the doubles Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara won again ( Click here for the detailed report ). + + + ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING: South Tyrol's artificial track luge athletes missed out on a European Championship medal at the World Cup in St. Moritz, but from a team perspective they still delivered a convincing performance. With Andrea Vötter (8th) and Verena Hofer (9th), two local runners ended up in the top ten. Nina Zöggeler (15th) and Sandra Robatscher (16th) completed the strong team result. The German Natalie Geisenberger won gold ahead of the Austrian Madeleine Egle.
