Time to turn back in winter

I couldn't save HER. All the help was free and the external circumstances added to that. It was too warm. My snow woman left me in a fluid process. I used to build snowmen. With carrot in the nose and for the eyes I used small pieces of charcoal. Looked super cool. Of course it doesn't work anymore. I had to act more feminine and think gender-actively.

Admittedly, this isn't always easy when you've grown up with Moor heads all your life, which are of course taboo now. My grandma always gave me ten pfennigs (grandpa wasn't allowed to know that) and at the local Kramer we had these Negro kisses (sorry, that's no longer possible either). So now foam kisses. Good is also a nice word, better than Sweden bomb, which is what they call this extremely delicious temptation made of soft foam sugar that is draped on a waffle and then dipped into a chocolate bath in Austria. Language is now quickly examined for possible racist content and caution must be exercised in everything one does.

For example, I'm no longer allowed to go as an Indian in the upcoming carnival or carnival because I'm not one. Although I am also an indigenous Bavarian, I am still not allowed to adopt a foreign culture. For example, when I put on a sombrero, I have to say that I am not Mexican, but, let's say, French or Romanian. The ease of life is no longer easy to achieve. Maybe I'll dress up as a skier, because then everyone will immediately know that I'm joining in the fun as a dying species. The two ski poles also help when the feeling of balance threatens to decrease due to the consumption of alcoholic liquids. The alienation of ski clothing goes hand in hand with the gradual process that I have already noticed with my snow woman. Nothing in winter is the way it used to be at the moment. The images from the Alps, no matter where they come from, seem increasingly disturbing. Have we already reached the tipping point of our climate? Is it already past twelve o'clock for our good earth? Apparently the ozone hole has become smaller. Oh, if I could only believe it and on the other hand: What use is it if the seas warm up and climate catastrophes occur in ever shorter succession? Intense rainfall follows periods of drought. But Schifoan is still leiwand, as Wolfgang Ambros keeps whispering to me over my old tube radio (Groetz brand). When he first performed the song in 1975, I never dreamed of wearing my wedge pants for the purpose of having fun.

Rethinking is mandatory The sport is still not thinking about getting used to the new circumstances and adapting. With almost brutal stubbornness, everyone tries to maintain the status of normality and so bands of artificial snow are conjured up on the green meadows, although the production of the white splendor using snow cannons is still questionable. For one cubic meter of snow you need at least half a cubic meter of water. Whether Adelboden or Ruhpolding: Nothing works without the usual household salt, which of course also means that the slopes become harder and more dangerous for the skier, for example, who thinks he can do a few turns in the beautiful snow in his free time . The falls are more serious and anyone who loses their balance off the artificial route will end up on rocky, hard ground. A lot of things, almost everything, have gotten out of balance this winter. And basically everyone knows: an adjustment has to happen. The problem for competitive sports is that the dates for the next few years are already fixed. Knowledge is power, but the knowledge of the fact that winter sports below 1500 meters above sea level will probably no longer be possible in the future without artificial help tends to create powerlessness.

We have definitely reached a turning point. The ski world must already develop strategies for tourism and sport in order to secure the future. But even the word “strategy” is problematic in this case because it involves the problem of a long process. And it's urgent now. So far, nothing has been learned from warm winters in the past. Now would be a good time to react honestly, consciously and, above all, quickly to the problem. Of course, it's usually only the athletes who are quick, while in the warm rooms of the officials it's the usual slogans of perseverance that set the tone, while outside the door snow women melt just as quickly as snowmen and the chocolate icing on the foam sugar also goes the way of everything earthly.
