BIATHLON: This time there was no South Tyrolean top result at the IBU Cup on the Pokljuka. Linda Zingerle took 21st place, Hannah Auchentaller 76th. The Italian Michela Carrara came third on Saturday. SNOWBOARD MEN: Mirko Felicetti narrowly missed his second World Cup victory at the Snowboard World Cup in Scuol, Switzerland. Felicetti had to admit defeat to Poland's Oskar Kwiatkowksi in the parallel giant slalom final. Third place went to the Austrian Andreas Prommegger, who prevailed in the small final against the Slovakian Tim Mastnak. However, South Tyrol's snowboarders came away empty-handed: Aaron March failed in the quarter-finals, Daniele Bagozza and Gabriel Messner in the round of 2. Roland Fischler, Edwin Coratti and Marc Hofer all missed out on the top 3. SNOWBOARD WOMEN: There was a Swiss double victory in the women's parallel giant slalom World Cup: Carolin Langenhorst beat her compatriot Ramona Theresia Hofmeister in the final in Scuol. Nadya Ochner from Burgstall was eliminated in the round of 16 and no other South Tyroleans were there. ALPINE SKIING: Vera Tschurtschenthaler finished seventh in the women's European Cup slalom in Pozza di Fassa. A total of five Azzurres were ranked in the top ten. The best was Betrice Sola in second place. Petra Unterholzner also collected two European Cup points in 29th place. SKI JUMPING: The Austrian ski jumpers Eva Pinkelnig and Chiara Kreuzer won the World Cup premiere of the super team competition in a confident manner in Zao, Japan. After three rounds on Saturday, the red-white-red duo was clearly ahead of Norway and Germany (+35,3 points) with a commanding lead of 42,8 points. The two Malsiner sisters from Val Gardena, Jessica and Lara, jumped to 8th place (+128,6). Two athletes per nation competed in the super team competition. The best eight of twelve duos qualified for the third round. The men will hold a competition in this format for the first time in Lake Placid in mid-February. Another individual competition is on the program in Japan on Sunday (2 a.m.). Later on Saturday the men's team jumping took place in Zakopane (Poland). Austria's ski jumpers also won the second team competition of this World Cup season. Daniel Tschofenig (137 m/134 m), Michael Hayböck (136,5/138), Manuel Fettner (129/130,5) and Stefan Kraft (130/123,5) were at the top of the podium. The ÖSV quartet prevailed by one point ahead of Poland and 7,1 points ahead of Germany. From the first jumper onwards, a duel for victory developed between Austria and Poland, which included three athletes from the top five of the Four Hills Tournament: Dawid Kubacki, Piotr Zyla and Kamil Stoch. ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING (JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS): In the men's singles, South Tyrolean Alex Gufler had hopes of winning a medal, but after the second and final run the 20-year-old luger was next to the podium. Gufler finished fourth, 0,47 seconds behind gold medalist Kaspars Rins of Latvia. Marco Leger from Germany took silver (+0,358 seconds) and his compatriot Hannes Röder took bronze (+0,427). In the women's doubles, Viktorija Ziedina and Selina Zvilna (Latvia) triumphed ahead of Lisa Zimmermann and Dorothea Schwarz (Austria/+0,019) and Marta Robezniece and Kitija Bogdanova (Latvia (+0,135). The South Tyrolean team Nadja Falkensteiner and Annalena Huber (+0,683) ended up in 5th place.
