Winter sports association FISI looks back on a record season

With 43 podium places, the ski racers lead the list with the most top 3 placements, followed by the natural track tobogganers with 35. The snowboarders and ski tourers are tied in third place with 18 podium places each. Ski jumping comes last with 3 podium. Alpine skiing: In the men's race, speed specialist Peter Fill (Castelrotto) has 6 podium finishes, just ahead of his teammate Dominik Paris (Ulten) with 5, although Paris has 1 more win. Slalom ace Manfred Mölgg (Enneberg) took third place with three podium places. Florian Eisath (Eggen) and Christof Innerhofer (Gais) each achieved 3 top-3 placement. Sofia Goggia is the undisputed leader among the women, and her 13 podium places are also a new Italian record. Federica Brignone follows with 6 podiums, ahead of Marta Bassino with 3. Manuela Mölgg (Enneberg) achieved 1 podium place. Natural track tobogganing: Patrick Pigneter (Völs) is alone at the top with a total of 14 podium places, 8 of which he achieved in the doubles together with his partner Florian Clara (Kampill). Alex Gruber (Villanders) climbed onto the podium 5 times. In the women's category, Greta Pinggera (Laas) achieved a total of 8 podium places (7 individual and 1 team relay). Evelyn Lantaler (Passeier) took 6 podiums. Snowboarding: Boardercrosser Omar Visintin (Lagundo) was pleased with the most podium places (4), three times in the individual race, and he achieved one podium as a team together with Emanuel Perathoner (Laion), who also had a win in the team race with Luca Matteotti. The best lady in snowboard cross is Michela Moio with 3 placements in the top 7. These days the Italian winter sports association FISI has officially concluded the 2016/17 World Cup season. The result: 170 podium places in the various sports, that's a new record.
