Winter sports association presents competition calendar

A total of 250 winter sports events are held in South Tyrol from the end of November to spring. “The clubs work excellently, they organize competitions every year that are of a very high level,” praised Hermann Ambach, the President of the South Tyrolean State Winter Sports Association. He is particularly pleased to have found a new sponsor in “Marlene”. “It is of course very nice when the local apple industry supports our young athletes.”

Carezza starts things off

The World Cup races begin in South Tyrol with the snowboarders who are coming to Carezza for the third year in a row. This year too, two races with the world's best snowboarders will take place on the Pra Di Tori slope on the Karerpass: On Friday, December 13th, Roland Filehner & Co. will fight for victory in the parallel giant slalom, followed the next day by the parallel -Slalom.

The classics in Val Gardena and Alta Badia

In alpine skiing, the classic on the Saslong in Val Gardena is on the program in just under three weeks. The World Cup entourage will come to the Ladin Valley on December 20th (Super-G) and 21st (Downhill). The next day, on December 22nd, it's all about World Cup points in Hochabtei, namely on the Gran Risa in the traditional giant slalom.

The slopes of Haunold in San Candido will be the venue for the FIS Ski Cross World Cup races for the 20th time in a row from December 22th to 5st.

Tour de Ski for the fifth time in a row in Dobbiaco

After the turn of the year we will stay in Hochpustertal, namely in Toblach. A stage of the Tour de Ski, the most important stage race in cross-country skiing, will take place there for the fifth time in a row. On January 3, 2014, the best cross-country skiers in the world want to lay the foundation for eventual overall victory in the Nordic Arena.

The Cross Country World Cup returns to Dobbiaco on February 1st and 2nd, where athletes will undergo a final test of form before the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Antholz, the biathlon mecca

The absolute winter sports highlight is still the biathlon races in Antholz. In the third week of January (January 16st to 19th), the best ski hunters in the world will delight the 65.000 fans in the South Tyrol Arena. Top-class sport paired with a top entertainment program make Antholz and South Tyrol the mecca of biathlon for a week.

There are three local World Cup races in natural track tobogganing. On January 4th and 5th, 2014, the start will take place with a parallel night race on the Seiser Alm, the following week it will be the turn of Moos in Passeier and on January 25th and 26th, Patrick Pigneter & Co. will fight for an important World Cup in Olang -Counter.
