Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer of the year

The Portuguese scored the most goals in the 2023 calendar year and comes in ahead of players like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland in this ranking.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still accurate even at 38 years old. According to the International Association of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), the Portuguese was the most successful first division goalscorer in 2023. Ronaldo scored a total of 54 goals, 44 for his club Al-Nassr in the Saudi Arabian championship (34), the national cup (1) and international club competitions (9), as well as ten goals for the Portuguese national team.

Ronaldo was number one in this statistic for the fourth time (2014, 2015, 2019, 2023). He came ahead of the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) and the Englishman Harry Kane (Tottenham, Bayern Munich) with 52 goals each, as well as the Norwegian Erling Haaland (Manchester City/50). However, the trio plays in a clearly stronger league. Kane scored the most goals in a top league last year with 38 goals.
