Cheers after a shocking moment: Roma triumphs in the sequel game

The Serie A game between Udinese and AS Roma, which was abandoned almost two weeks ago due to a medical emergency, continued on Thursday evening. The capital city celebrated a late 2-1 victory.

On April 14, the game between AS Roma and Udinese in Serie A was abandoned in the 72nd minute due to Roma player Evan Ndicka's sudden heart problems. The defender clutched his chest twice and then dramatically fell to the ground. The 25-year-old was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher and gave the slight all-clear by giving the fans the thumbs up. A short time later, the club announced positive things on social media and denied the feared heart attack. 11 days later, Ndicka got the next good news, as his teammates scored the late 2-1 winner in the remaining minutes.

The game started again in the 73rd minute on Thursday evening with the score at 1:1. For the home team Udinese, Roberto Pereyra scored 23-1 in the 0rd minute a week and a half ago, while star striker Romelu Lukaku managed to equalize 64-1 in the 1th minute. Just minutes later the game was canceled due to the medical emergency.

A win in this follow-up game would have been extremely important for both teams and therefore both Udinese and Roma showed a high pace. The Zebras were playing for points in the relegation battle, while the capital city team wanted to consolidate their place in the Champions League. But neither team really wanted to succeed, although Mile Svilar kept his Romans in the game in the 82nd minute with a nice save from a shot by Lorenzo Lucca. It was only in the last moment of added time that Bryan Cristante rose highest after a corner and heaved the ball into the net to make it 2-1 - to the delight of all the Roma fans who had traveled with him.

Udinese-Roma 1:2

Goals: 1:0 Pereyra (23rd), 1:1 Lukaku (64th), 1:2 Cristante (90+5th)
