No home World Cup: Jake Smith removed from squad

It's been fixed since Friday: Damian Clara is coming to the home World Cup in Bolzano. Because of this, a goalie had to be removed from the squad. Jake Smith has now been caught.

Damian Clara Lands in Munich on Friday evening from Sweden, is then taken to Bolzano by his parents, completes the medical check there on Saturday morning and then trains with the team for the first time. On Friday evening, Italy's decision-makers simultaneously removed the fourth goalie from the squad: the sufferer is Jacob Smith.

Bolzano's Gianluca Vallini, on the other hand, will fill the role of emergency goalie (in case someone is injured) at his home World Cup. This means that those responsible for the Blue Team will rely on the duo Damian Clara and Andreas Bernard between the posts.

Smith replaced Bernard as one-goalie at HC Pustertal this year from the pre-playoffs onwards and was partly responsible for the Wolves' first-ever entry into the semi-finals of the ICE Hockey League. In the national team, however, the 28-year-old only has a spectator role. For Italy, the B World Cup in Bolzano begins on Sunday (19.30 p.m.) with the game against Romania.
