Victory against France: Italy takes revenge

Italy's national team completed the second test ahead of the home World Cup on Sunday evening. The Azzurri won.

Two test matches, twice against France: That was the weekend program for the Blue Team. There was one in Megève on Saturday 2:4 defeat, 24 hours later the Azzurri got revenge in Aosta and won 3-2.

The match even offered some curiosities. The winning goal was scored by Puster defender Daniel Glira, who had never hit the mark this season. Glira scored this goal while outnumbered and just one second before the end of the middle third.

Gazley points right away

Bolzano's Dustin Gazley also showed that he is an asset to the Blue Team. The 35-year-old Italian-American, who is currently playing for Italy's national team for the first time, scored the 1-1 equalizer on Sunday with a blue liner and also had his bat in play for Glira's winning goal.

For Italy, Jake Smith, Andy Bernard, Phil Pietroniro, Luca Frigo, Marco Zanetti, Daniel Frank and Dan Catenacci were sidelined on Sunday. Gianluca Vallini looked after the goal for half an hour, then Davide Fadani was allowed onto the ice. The 23-year-old, who is under contract with Ambri Piotta in the National League, kept a clean slate.

Italy's national team is now returning to Bolzano and will train in the Sparkasse Arena until Friday. The training camp will then be moved to Neumarkt, where the next test match will take place on Saturday. South Korea will be guests in the Würtarena from 19 p.m.
