1:4 defeat in the ice wave: Vienna sends Bozen on vacation

Win or fly – that was the motto that the HCB internalized in the opening minutes of the fourth semi-final and in front of almost 4200 spectators. With lightning-fast counter-attacks they repeatedly appeared in front of the Vienna goal. Insam had the best opportunity, appearing completely alone in front of Lamoureux after seven minutes, but missed the big chance.

Even after the first break, the Foxes remained in control, but this time too their finishing was too imprecise. Vallerand was handed the disc on a silver platter after a Root pass, but aimed over it. On the other hand, the Caps did better: Four seconds before the end of a power play situation (Sparks was in the cooler due to a substitution error), a Brocklehurst shot deflected by Seymour found its way into the Bolzano goal. When Sharp made it 2-0 a little later after a Ferland pass, Bolzano's neck already seemed to be badly cracked. But just 20 seconds later, Vallerand made the ice wave tremble when he neatly put a rebound into the net to make it 2-1. It went back and forth as a result, with Bolzano being lucky again shortly before half-time when a Pollastrone shot hit the bar.

In the final third, the two teams played a game on a knife's edge, in which it was ultimately Tessier who took out the tension: After 47 minutes, he made Oberdörfer look completely old on the boards and wonderfully flicked the puck into the top corner - the score was 3-1 the preliminary decision. Bozen was no longer able to react, Tessier made the final score 4-1 with his second goal of the evening.

While Vienna is now in the final and will face the winner of the pairing Salzburg against Klagenfurt (currently 2-2 in the series), the season for the HCB is over.

The HCB Südtirol Alperia season ended on Tuesday evening. In the ice wave, the Foxes had to admit defeat to the Vienna Capitals 1:4, so they left the ice as losers for the fourth time in the fourth semi-final game and were therefore eliminated.
