15 South Tyroleans at the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Latvia

Belarus and Latvia play in the Top Division and are ranked 9th and 10th respectively in the IIHF world rankings, while Japan and Italy will take part in the World Championships in the first division, Group A in Katowice in April 2016. The “Azzurri” will train in Trento on November 2nd and 3rd before their departure to Latvia. “This Euro Ice Hockey Challenge is very strong and therefore a real test for our team,” says national coach Stefan Mair. “Compared to last year, where we saw a lot of players, this year we are relying on a group that will then go to the World Cup.” Mair has called up a total of 24 players, 15 of them from South Tyrol. Bozen is the most represented with six players, HC Pustertal has four and Rittner Buam has two players.

15 South Tyroleans at the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Latvia

After the summer training camp in Cortina and the two friendly games in July against two KHL teams, the Italian national ice hockey team will compete in the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Latvia from November 5th to 7th. Stefan Mair's team will face Belarus, Japan and the hosts in Liepaja.
