19 South Tyroleans called up for the Hockey Challenge in Vienna

After the training camp in Brixen on February 2nd and 3rd, the “Azzurri” set off for Vienna. Italy will face three top-class opponents in their third tournament of the season after Budapest and Milan, as the final test before the World Cup Division I - Group A in Krakow (18-25 April 2015). Stefan Mair from the Italian coaching staff: “This team is the first step towards the World Cup in Poland. Giovanni Morini, who played a very good U20 World Championship in Asiago, is completely new to the team. We have a mix of young talents and experienced players. I'm pleased that we'll face strong opponents in Vienna. Slovakia will only compete with the second selection, but they are always to be rated highly. Unfortunately we are missing some players who had to cancel for personal or health reasons, such as Alexander Egger, Giulio Scandella, Hannes Stofner and Patrick Hochkofler. A total of 27 players were called up, 19 of whom are South Tyrolean. Ritten has the largest contingent with six players, followed by Bolzano with five and Val Gardena and Asiago with three each.

19 South Tyroleans called up for the Hockey Challenge in Vienna

On Wednesday the Italian Ice Sports Federation announced the squad for the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Vienna from February 4th to 7th, 2015. Italy will face Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia in this four-way tournament.
