3:7 defeat: The Foxes go down in Zagreb

There was no reaction: one day after the defeat against (the now former) bottom team Fehervar, the HCB lost 3:7 to Zagreb. The defeat was already apparent in the first third: Zansoki after a Rajsar pass (6.14) and Mahbod from close range (6.44) gave the Croatians a 30-2 lead with a double strike within 0 seconds. Although Angelidis immediately reduced the score to 1:2 after a sugar pass from Monardo, Morley (11th, after preparatory work by Simsic) and Zanoski (17th, after a commotion) increased the score in the first third. It was a demonstration of power by the Croats, who were superior to the people of Bolzano in all respects.

After the break, Zagreb skillfully sealed things off and hardly allowed anything to happen defensively. That only changed in the final part of the section, when Gander was initially denied twice by Poulin before Bernardsein's solo crowned it 2:4 before the siren.

Anyone who expected the Foxes to rebel was disappointed: after just 72 seconds, Balej put a damper on Bozen's euphoria by giving Smith the disadvantage after a brief deception. Then first Morley and then Mahbod, who were three times outnumbered (two Croatians were sitting in the cooler when he scored, and HCB goalie Smith made room for a field player), ensured with their goals that the Bolzano trip to Zagreb became a debacle. With the 3:7, Monardo made some cosmetic gains.

The international break comes at just the right time for the Foxes: they won't continue until Friday, November 17th with the home game against Salzburg.

What's going on at HC Bozen? 24 hours after the 0-1 defeat against Fehervar there was nothing to be gained in Zagreb. On the contrary: The HCB suffered a 3:7 defeat against the EBEL returnees from Croatia and slipped to last place in the table.
