Respectful success for young “Azzurri”

After the two bitter defeats against Poland 4:9 and Norway 0:4, the young “Azzurri” were under pressure in Bled. A win was needed against Lithuania - and it came, albeit only after extra time and with some effort.

After a goalless and balanced first third, Lithuania took the lead a few minutes after the restart thanks to Mark Kaleinikovas. The “Azzurri” tried to fight back and attacked the opposing goalkeeper Laurynas Lubys, but no goal would be scored.

The score remained this way until nine minutes before the end, when Lukas Kosmac finally scored Italy's equalizer. Nothing more happened until the end of the regular season and extra time had to be decided.

A timeout was decisive for the game

And the decision was not long in coming, also thanks to the help of Lithuania. Because when its goal scorer Kaleinikovas had to go to the penalty box after 2.40:14 minutes, Italy's team boss Erwin Kostner immediately called a timeout and obviously thought out the right move. Just XNUMX seconds later, Simon Berger from Vipiteno scored the winning goal.

Against Ukraine, which is still without a win, Italy immediately has the opportunity to add another win on Wednesday evening.
