AHL: Final victory for Neumarkt, defeat for Vipiteno

Neumarkt went into the match against Lustenau as underdogs, firstly because the “Wildgänse” had 13 points less than the guests from Vorarlberg and secondly because four players were missing, partly due to injury and partly because they were called up for the U20 national team. The almost 400 spectators didn't notice any of this and experienced a varied match with a happier ending for the home team.

After a goalless first third, the Czech Republic gave Muzik Neumarkt a 2-1 lead at the start of the second third. With a double strike towards the third half, Koczera and Stastny turned the result in Lustenau's favor. Before the second third siren, Sullmann equalized again. Thanks to Oberscheider, Vorarlberg took the lead again shortly after the restart. But two special goals brought a new turnaround: First, Muzik scored his second goal while outnumbered and then the American Harcharik scored the winning goal a tiny second before the end of regular time. Neumarkt has therefore overtaken Fassa in the table.

Asiago is no longer Vipiteno's favorite opponent The Broncos Vipiteno had recently won five home games in a row against runner-up Asiago and the Broncos also won the first leg in Veneto. Therefore, people in Vipiteno were quite confident, even though three of the last four games in the AHL were lost. But ultimately this negative series continued.

The first two thirds were similar: Asiago took the lead and Vipiteno equalized twice - first thanks to Bahensky and in the second third thanks to Brunner. But the home team seemed to have used up their powder. After Asiago's goal by Casetti a few seconds into the final third, the Broncos had nothing left to counter and conceded their fourth goal in the final phase.

Vipiteno remains in seventh place in the table, while Asiago is level on points with Jesenice in second place.

Two matches were played in the Alps Hockey League on Thursday evening, both in South Tyrol. While Neumarkt celebrated a narrow, late victory, Vipiteno suffered a bitter defeat.
