AHL: Pustertal and Neumarkt are about to end

The HC Pustertal Cortina had to admit defeat again after the record game on Wednesday evening. This time too, the HCP's defeat was extremely narrow and unfortunate. The decimated “Wolves” took the lead in the Olympic Stadium in Cortina thanks to a power play goal from Max Oberrauch, but conceded three goals in just six minutes in the middle third - so the game seemed to be decided in favor of the Ampezzan team. Pustertal pulled itself together again in the final third and equalized 35-3 through Erlacher and Hofer (3 seconds before the end). When there was a strong smell of extra time, Cortina struck again: Fontanive scored 16 seconds before the final siren to make it 4:3 and thus put the Ampezzan team's second success away.

They also did the same as Cortina Rittner Buam on Saturday evening another important step towards the playoff semi-finals. The Italian champion wrestled in the all-South Tyrolean quarterfinals Neumarkt away with 4:3. The decisive man on the ice was the Italian-Canadian Dan Tudin, who entered the top scorer list twice with his goals 16 and 17 this season.

For Pustertal and Neumarkt it's all or nothing on Wednesday. If the two teams lose their third quarter-final game, their season would end prematurely. The same applies to Feldkirch and Lustenau: The two Vorarlberg clubs lost out for the second time in their duels with Aisago and Jesenice and now need three wins in a row to make it to the semi-finals.

Game two of the playoff quarter-final duels took place in the Sky Alps Hockey League on Saturday evening. The two South Tyrolean representatives Pustertal and Neumarkt left the ice as losers for the second time.
